The website and forum have been offline for a couple of days now. Anyone know anything about this?

Wow.

It is gone!

I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out.

The site was primarily funded and maintained by AA, but now that DST owns them, maybe they just let what ever ISP services AA purchased expire.

I kind of thought it odd that they even kept it around after DST acquired them... or at the least didn't role it up under the DST site.

But maybe it's a glitch... or maybe they are re-doing it under the DST site... or maybe it's just gone..

I guess I've got nothing but speculation and unchecked rumors for you!

With such a great community as this, what does it matter Will? From what I've seen, if it weren't for the Trek community, that forum would just fold up onto itself. Most of the Minimate fans have jumped ship to another community, much like this, that filled the original void a few years back when the forum did a Houdini and disappeared.

Trust me, this is hard for me to say, since AA was my first community I joined, but I think folks need to just let it go. Mark and his team have set up a safe haven for folks to continue to talk about Trek. He's even continued the Q & A with DST, which is more than the "official" website has done. I think this is the coordinates everyone needs to be setting to get their Star Trek fix, not the AA forum. That's a rutterless ship that lost it's bearings long ago sad.gif

I have to agree with the Donster.I cant see why anyone wold even give that place a second thought with a great place like Trektoy around. It used to be a great place to go and talk toys. It was the first forum that I ever joined back in the old days when they toyed with the idea of the collectors club but it realy went down hill and turned into a very unfriendly place to go. So much so that I deleted my account and left it behind (a sad day). Maybe they just put it out of its (and our) misery. Or it could just be a glitch. Either way this is home now and I woudln't have it any other way biggrin.gif .

Its done this before. The server goes down and then a few days later they fix it. No reason to panic my friends. Its still around. I agree with the above statements though. I have been toying with throwing in my hat there too. You can still get a bit of friendly, intelligent conversation, but most of the time, people are just arguing to argue. Plus, I need it as a forum to promote the "I want a Guinan campaign" that is still going on. LOL

The forums seem to be back, but the main page seems to still be buggered.

Hmmm, it could very well affect us.

Some of those angry buggers at the AA forums like to be heard...without the AA forums, it may only be a matter of time before they are over here telling DST how useless & terrible they are!

Not that I'm against people expressing themselves...I just find some ways are better than others.

I don't think my little soul could take it if we turned into an angry mob like the AA forums at times!

Our mods I think would have a little better control than those over at AA (do they even have mods that step in?). I used to be one of those people over at AA that would argue for the sake of arguing. I think Ive been tempered down over here (and quite rightly!) even though every now and then I get that ol' urge to have a good knock down drag out (but still remain civilized). Hopefully some of them will come on over and have the same change in character. Those that dont want to change (thread hijakers included) can listlessly roam the internet for something else to fill their fix!

Having a conversation or a debate is different than what goes on over there. Rest assured we are here to make sure that everyone has their say, but doesn't get out of hand.

Guys it was one of those days at work that was long, hard, and you think that it's never going to end. I got home and then had a ton of things to do and I just sat down and looked at the forum. To be honest I never really thought that it meant so much to you guys. I just want to chime in and say thanks for all your kind words.

I have to be honest I have not been to AA for well over 6 months. I find all the info I want right here and I am not scared to read the posts. I hope that no one takes it wrong but I would rather have 10 great members then 100 that have to be watched every second.

Last, I didn't make this a great forum, I really had little to do with that, you guys are the ones that made it what it is.

When the AA forum closed down awhile back without any prior notice I decided it was a good time to find a more positive and less conflict riddled site. I found this site and never re-joined when the AA site went back up 2 or more months after it had closed down. This site seems to cut down, for the most part, on the trivial and pointless squabbling that happened over there. It's a good place to check up on stuff and see what is going on with the line. Nice work FHC

Well, this is probably one of my favorite forums.

I love that people can disagree, be heard, but not put down or feel trampled.

I just wish DST would give us something new to talk about... and by new I mean in our grubbly little mitts so we can rave, admonish, and throughly critique all aspects of their Star Trek Products!

It certainly was a tale of two cities....knowledgeable Trek enthusiasts mixed with idological fanatics who like nothing better than to disagree to the point of making it personal. I saw it wear down the best of us (Tim). It finally took it's toll on me as well, thus.....sayonara. I was glad this site came to pass and really appreciate being to get info on all things TREK.

It certainly does seem like 80% of all the posts on the AA forum are by people that do nothing except bash DST and the work that they do, and will never be happy with anything. huh.gif

Mark, I think you are being far too modest. Sure, them members are great and they know it. But you gave them a place to come to when the forum shut down and it's grown from there. Take a bow, you deserve it wink.gif
