I wasn't a huge Barclay fan....but I did not dislike him at all.

I was always happy to see Ro & Q.

Did Denise Crosby's career go anywhere after TNG?

She was in the movie Pet Cemetery from the Steven King book,

1. Fave characters
2. Fave episodes
3. Fave ships & sets

1) Well...tbh Troi and Crusher. With Riker and Ro coming in close behind. I know these are usually considered the lower rung on characters from TNG with Worf, Picard, and Data being at the top....but I liked these underused characters more. Crusher had a fierce determination that I greatly admired; Troi was exotic and much more relatable for me; and Riker....heck, Riker is who I wanted to be growing up. Second in command, getting to do all of the away missions, and get to make out with Troi. LOL
2) I think "All Good Things" was my absolute favorite when it was said and done. "Best of Both Worlds" was right up there too. And as crazy as it was, I really liked "Cause and Effect" a lot because of the beginning right before the openin credits. I remember watching that episode for the first time waay back in the early 90's screaming at the tv "WHAT THE $#@&?!!! NOOOOO!!!"
3) Favorite ship? The ENT-D of course. biggrin.gif Sets? Hmmm...from the series alone, I guess I'd have to say the Bridge (seasons 5-7...changes in carpet wink.gif ).

I am the same.

Ofcourse I have a deep fondness for Picard, Worf & Data...but people like Beverly, Deanna, Geordi, Tasha, Paluski & Riker seemed to interest me soo much more. Perhaps because we knew less about them.

I was always stoked when we got episodes that actually delved into earlier life of those characters.

Though I thought giving Deanna Troi a younger sister was odd. How the hell did someone like Lwaxana Troi keep THAT quiet?? And didn't any of her friends know she had a daughter before Deanna? It seems unlikely that something like that could be kept a secret....especially with telepaths & empaths.
But hey, it was still a good story. I believe we had a very young Kirsten Dunst in that episode.

That was the first ST:TNG episode that actually made me cry. I mean WEEP LIKE A BABY! Only a few Star Trek episodes have made me teary-eyed, but that one takes the cake. At the end when Lwaxana is bawling and can barely get the story out between sobs... man, I can't help it. I am sobbing right along with her! sad.gif

Oh I'm right there with you. That episode and the final scene from ENT's "Terra Prime" where Trip and T'Pol are talking in her quarters (where Trip cries) are two episodes I still won't let my brother watch. (They lost their first baby due to a blood clot at 6 months neonatal).

Just saw Descent Pt. 1 play on Sci-Fi.

In the episode, Data wishes to disable the safety's on the Holodeck to try & re-create his blood lust, but he asks Geordi to help as the computer needs two senior officers authorisation codes.

I'm so sure I've seen people disable the safety program by themself! B'Elanna in 'Extreme Risk' for one (Though she may have done something dodgy?).

Anyone know about the Holodeck safety protocols?

Well, I don't know about the holodeck, but Starfleet in general seems to have a tendency to relax security on its critical systems... take the self-destruct sequence, for example:

TOS: voice authorization from Captain, Science/First Officer, and Chief Engineer to initiate
TNG: voice and handprint authorization from Captain, and First Officer
VOY: voice authorization from Captain only...

hmmmm...

All episodes of Star Trek from TOS to Voyager pretty much made the protocal fit the story. Whenever they needed it to be official they had several people have to do something but if they wanted it to be more dramatic or if the situation called for a quick resolution it seemed as though the captain (or whoever it was) would automaticaly have the ability to do whatever it was by themselves.

^Also I think when it came to VOY's self destruct occurances, the ship was in a battle or in extreme distress (i.e. hull breaches, etc.) so maybe there's a protocol for the computer to accept one officers (in this case the captain's) voice authorization only. Either that or there may be different protocols for different size ships. In the case of the ENT-D being a huge ship vs. the VOY being a relatively small vessell.

It's funny you mention this Art because I was watching "Extreme Risk" the other day and when B'Elanna disabled the safety protocols I thought how odd it was that the Enterprise D needed two senior officers.

But yeah... EVERYTHING changes in Star Trek to fit the story.

^Well that and Voyager had issues of inconsistancey of its own. For instance in the episode "Cathexis" a Chakotay possesed B'Ellana was able to eject the core despite Janeway as saying "B'Ellana doesn't have the necessary authorisation to do that!" but yet in "Day of Honor" she was able to do so again. Now granted this was several seasons (and incidentally a semi-promotion from LT j.g. to full LT) later, PLUS the fact that the core was about to breach in the later situation. So in MY mind, the state of the ship allows for differential protocols to be put into effect. So in that instance since the core was about to breach, Torres COULD eject the core without higher authorization.

You would have to think that the Chief Engineer could under extreme conditions.

Hello Capt (who's dead on the bridge) the warp core is going and the rest of the ship is going up, can I eject the core? Hello Hello HELLO

She was a lieutenant junior grade at one time?!? I will be the first to admit that I could NEVER figure out the Maquis rank pin AND when I had some idea of what meant what I could never get a good view of it on the screen. Was Chakotay always a full commander? With him and Paris I understand giving them a rank (whatever they had when they left Starfleet), but I thought it was weird that they give someone like B'Elanna a lieutenant rank when she never even graduated from the Academy while there were ensigns and lieutenants running around. Let her be Chief Engineer if ya want, Janeway...

^Well technically all of the Maquis were "field commissions" (thus the different pips). And Torres rank had to be at least a LT for her to be chief engineer.
